Who are we?
Local Maryland beekeepers, keeping bees happy on a diet of lavender, tulip poplars, and Maryland wildflowers.
We are just doing our thing, learning about beekeeping and growing our hives. Charles, a designer and craftsman, can't stop himself from engineering efficiency into a process. Carey, a self-taught candy maker and chocolatier, is busy experimenting with flavor combinations.

Necessity is the Mother of Invention
That's where the smoker plugs came in. One day, while working on the hives, Charles realized he didn't have anything handy to put out his smoker, so he grabbed a stick and put it in the hole. After it cooled down, he pulled it out, whittled it down, attached a chain so he wouldn't lose it, and the first smoker plug was born.
The local bee community took an interest, so he designed several versions to respond to requests to buy them. And, now- available to the bee community at large via this website.
About our smoker plugs
Smoker plugs have been designed to provide a way to more safely contain your smoker, while conserving fuel (no need to douse and throw away your fuel each time). They are all unique and are handmade from local lumber. Style and look may vary. Shipping may vary depending on your location.
How to order
Since all of the plugs are one of a kind, the supply is always changing. You can either:
1. Select using the plug number on the photograph of the current batch. These are first come, first serve, so please send your 2nd and 3rd choices.
2. We can select a plug in the style of your choice. We think they are all pretty great!
